Biography

Simeon Tienpont (1982) is a Dutch professional sailor and skipper of racing teams in the world’s big ocean races. He is a maritime engineer by trade and studied business administration at the Erasmus University. He participated in three America’s Cup and won two of them in 2010 and 2013 with Oracle team USA where next to a race-crew member he was technically responsible as a boat-captain within the campaigns. In 2005 he did his first around the world race in the Volvo Ocean Race, another one followed in 2015 and in the last Volvo Ocean Race in 2018 he skippered his own team AkzoNobel successfully around the world. Since 2019 Simeon is the initiator and driving force behind Dutchsail, a foundation that connects the infrastructure and human capital around these highly skilled professional sailing campaign to bridge the “Spin-off”  to societal challenges in order to create new prospects for youth, innovation and sustainability.
